A look at social media's impact on social change

What is social change?
To me it's when a large group of people (towns, city's, country's)
change the why there society works and thinks.

The beginning
With the creation of the mobile phone 27 years ago our lives have changed. We could now stay in touch with loved ones and friends anywhere and anytime we want. This tool for communication truly created a social change. Now mobile phones do more then let us talk to our loved ones, we can take picturesor videos on our cell phones. Do you want to surf the web well one the bus? Done. Do you want to talk on tweeter or play games on the go? No problem. Adding social networks/media to cell phones has taken this tool for social change and improved on it. With the help of social networks on cellphones many Non-governmental organization (NGO) like United Nations Foundation, and Non-profit organization (NPO) like The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation can stay in touch over long distances and for a lower cost. Now I think that adding social networks (like facebook and tweeter) to cellphones is a social improvment, not a change but many people see this a massive social change... and just might right.

And do you know who we have to thank for all this...?
